What is Karate-do

Karate-do is more than a form of self defense. Karate-do is both an art and a science. Art because it strives for perfection of physical form and motion. Science because it is based upon physical and psychic principles understood in the Orient for centuries.

The suffix "do" (pronounced "doh") is a Japanese word which means the "way." This implies that the study of karate-do involves following an ethical path to physical development, spiritual harmony, and overall self-improvement.
